Final Reminder for Free Stall Drawing for Santa Barbara!

Well, as we’ve said all along, "time flies when you’re having fun!" Here it is, the end of May, with June 5th coming "tomorrow". Happily, some entries have arrived, and now it’s time for the rest of you to get yours in. This is our last reminder about the opportunity for a free stall, thanks to the WPCAC, for the Santa Barbara Show, to be held July 2, 3 & 4, 2009.

Strange as it may sound, the $65 stall fees are among the lowest fees being offered this year – a definite plus for your participation in the prestigious Santa Barbara National Horse Show. Special entry fees have also been offered to the Welsh exhibitors – less than many schooling show entry fees!

Whether you wish to participate in the Free Stall Drawing or not, it is now time to complete your entry form and get it in the mail prior to the closing of entries. As you will note, post entry fees will be $20/animal, and if the original entry is made at the show, the post entry fee, per animal, will be $30.00. Now there’s motivation for you to get your entries in prior to June 13th. :-)

Free Stall Drawing!
In the interest of helping all to make this show a success – and that means not only having 75 + ponies at the show, but a success in our exhibitors making life as stress free for the office staff as possible, the WPCAC is offering a raffle drawing for entries received by June 5th (in my hands!). To make sure we are very clear on this, received means the entry must be at the address below by June 5th – not postmarked by June 5th. All entries received by June 5th will qualify for the drawing of a free stall.

Closing Date/Web Page Address:
As we have mentioned in the first two issues of the Welsh Bulletin, the entries will be due, completed in full, on JUNE 13TH. Their office is not set up to take last minute entries, or faxed entries. The Premium List has been mailed to WPCAC members, as well as folks who have exhibited in the past, and is posted on line. Go to Earlwarren.com. Click on 2009 National Horse Show. There is a photo of a jumping horse on this button. Then scroll down to the picture of the Horn Blower. It will say SB National - Multi Breed. It opens to the premium book of the horse show. Keep scrolling until you come to the Welsh Division.

Entries Received After Closing Date:
IF you send in an entry after the closing date, it will be accepted, but you will be charged the post entry penalty. We have assured show management that we will let all exhibitors have this information so there is no misunderstanding.

To Participate:
If you wish to participate in the drawing for the free stall, please send your entries for the SB show to 13388 Renke Road, Galt, CA 95632-8320 – in time for them to be received by June 5th (IN MY HANDS!). Those entries will be opened, and we will check the classes being entered to help determine class splits. These entries will then be packaged up and sent to the SB show office all prior to the closing date of June 13th. We will hold a drawing right after June 5th, and announce the winner of the free stall.

No participation in the drawing:
If you do not wish to participate, please make every effort to have your entries to the show office no later than June 13th, the closing date. Entries received after June 13th will be charged the post entry penalty fee. (please see above). All of the classes to be offered will be determined by the entries received by the closing date. We will work directly with Show Management in an effort to get all the splits we can for the show. Entries received after the closing date will not be taken into consideration for the class splits.

Possible Double Gold for 2010
The Show Manager has assured us that if we are able to have enough ponies for a Gold Show this year, she will then seriously consider a double Gold show for next year. Let’s make it happen, and let’s do our best to be timely with our entries. Any questions about this should be directed to Gerald Verkuyl, goldhills@softcom.net

GETTING READY FOR SEPTEMBER!

For those of you planning on attending the Pacific Coast Classic and Western National Welsh Pony & Cob Shows, arrangements have been made with The Comfort Inn in Galt again. Many of our exhibitors have stayed there at one time or another during the past three years, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about this place.

We have a block of rooms reserved. When calling to make your reservation (209-744-7800), please be sure to let them know you are with the Welsh Pony & Cob Association of CA, and you may mention my name if necessary. The rates are lower this year than last year – because this is the third year we have booked them. The block of rooms will be released AUGUST 24th, 2009, so please be sure and book your room(s) prior to that date.

More will be coming out about the shows in September soon. Time is flying by this year – so we’ve all got to take a deep breath, and plan ahead! :-)
